Title I

Improving Academic Achievement

Ellensburg School District receives federal Title I, Part A funding to support eligible schools in improving student achievement, especially for students who are furthest from meeting state standards. Title I provides supplemental support in reading, math, and other academic areas.

  •

Title I is a federal program that provides funding to schools with higher percentages of students from low-income families. The goal is to ensure that all students have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education.

Our Title I services may include:

    •  Additional support staff in reading and math
    • Professional development for teachers
    • Targeted academic interventions
    • Family engagement activities

Ellensburg School District currently operates Schoolwide Programs at:

    •  Ida Nason Aronica Elementary School
    •  Lincoln Elementary School
    • Mount Stuart Elementary School
    • Morgan Middle School

Each school operating a Title I Schoolwide Program develops a comprehensive plan to improve teaching and learning across the entire school. These plans are developed with staff and parent input and are available to the public

  • We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential for student success. As required by federal law (ESSA §1116), we work closely with families to plan and evaluate our Title I programs.

    • Ellensburg School District Policy 4130 and Procedure 4130P – Title I Parental Involvement
    • Each Title I school hosts an Annual Title I Meeting to share program details, explain parents’ rights, and gather feedback. Each Title I school has a Parent and Family Engagement Plan and Parent-Teacher-Student Compact, both of which can be found on the school’s website.
  • As a parent of a student attending a Title I school, you have the right to:

    • Request information about the professional qualifications of your child’s teacher(s) and any paraprofessionals providing support.
    • Receive timely notice if your child is taught for more than four consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not appropriately certified.
    •  Review your child’s performance on state academic assessments.
    • Understand the policies on participation and opt-out for state and local assessments.

To request teacher or paraeducator qualifications, please contact your school principal or the district office.

  • Ellensburg School District administers a variety of assessments throughout the school year. To learn more about these assessments, including their purpose, schedule, and how results are shared, visit our Assessment page.

You may also request information about policies regarding student participation or opt-out from assessments from your school principal.
