EHS Student Selected for Prestigious NASA Summer Internship!

We are proud to announce that Ellensburg High School student Miles O'Connor was selected for the highly competitive STEM Enhancement in Earth Science (SEES) Summer Internship - a collaboration between NASA and The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Space Research!

Miles is one of only 80 students nationwide selected from nearly 3,000 applicants for this elite opportunity. As part of the program, he’ll spend the summer collaborating with NASA mentors and fellow interns on cutting-edge space research—including the design of lunar habitats!

The program kicked off earlier this week, and Miles is already diving into intensive hands-on experiences in Earth and Space Science, Python Coding, and Data Analysis using NASA satellite imagery. Later this summer, he’ll travel to Austin to work on-site with NASA scientists and engineers at UT Austin.

We are so proud of Miles and can't wait to see how this experience shapes his future in STEM and space exploration. Way to go, Miles!
